What you choose to buy will be
influenced by a number of factors including whether you plan to live in the
property full time,
stay in it occasionally or maintain it purely as an investment.
Often people who live here full
time will choose a house over a condo for the extra space and privacy. However,
if you won't be here all year (yet) you may feel more comfortable owning a condo
where the monthly fees include the
maintenance of the building and grounds, landscaping etc.
Another consideration is whether
you would like to receive some rental income to help off-set the cost of
ownership. Beach
front condos and homes are the most popular with renters for obvious reasons,
and condos which allow daily rentals are
normally the best income producers. Homes on Sanibel are limited to a minimum of 28-day
rentals so typically are rented annually,
